This unusual Arabica thrives in one of the most fertile regions of Ethiopia. Cultivated in the southern highlands of the country, it produces medium-sized green beans with blue tinges. The beans have a fruity aroma, with spicy, rather earthy top notes, and make a fabulously concentrated espresso. The coffee is prized by coffee purchasers from all over the world for its rapidly developing, herby aroma, its fruity flavour and its spirited, yet mild, finish.
If you've enjoyed other coffees from Sidamo you'll be surprised when you try this particular offering. Normally African coffees are washed or semi-washed. This Sidamo has been ultra-washed! It's prepared using the same method as Costa Rican Hacienda La Minita. To take the time, additional effort and added expense to process this coffee in this way indicates that someone cared an awful lot to place their money on the table to make this happen. I might have to raise the price on this one - get it while it's cheap! : > )
